01 / The firm
A boutique firm that treats your project as its own
We design building systems for homeowners, developers, medical practices, restaurants, manufacturers and federal clients. Any size project, from a single family home to large commercial buildings.
David Cruz has held a professional engineer's license since founding DCE in 2003. Every drawing that leaves this office is reviewed by him. That is the whole reason a firm this size exists.

02 / Capabilities
What we are retained to do
Engineering Services
MEP, fire protection and structural design under one professional engineer, so the drawings agree with each other.
Federal and Cleared Work
Active secret clearance and numerous completed projects for the Air Force and the Veterans Administration.
Forensics and Expert Witness
Failure analysis, insurance claim investigation, expert reports and testimony that holds up at deposition.
Property Inspections
A licensed engineer walks the building before you buy it and puts its condition in writing.
03 / On site
We stay on the project after the drawings are stamped
Design is the easy half. Answering the contractor's questions, walking the site and getting the system through inspection is the part that decides whether it works.
Two decades of feedback from installed projects is why our details look the way they do. We know which valve gets skipped and which submittal the inspector will question, because we have been called back to look at all of them.
04 / Sectors
The buildings we work on
Every project is one of ours, with the square footages recorded at the time of design.
DCE drawing
Private Residences
High end homes in Fairfield County and Westchester, designed with the architect and the owner from schematic through permit.
Residential Development
Multi building apartment and campus projects in Connecticut, where the same drawings have to work across a dozen buildings.
Medical
Medical office buildings, surgical suites and health centers, where ventilation and redundancy are code questions rather than preferences.
Retail
Convenience stores, dealerships and big box fit-outs, usually on a schedule set by a lease start date.
Industrial
Process plants, clean rooms and manufacturing lines, where the mechanical design and the production rate are the same conversation.
Restaurants
Kitchen exhaust, make-up air and grease duct routing, drawn so the health inspector and the fire marshal both sign off.
Federal
DCE holds a secret clearance and has completed numerous federal projects for the Air Force and the Veterans Administration.
05 / Record
Small firm, licensed engineer, real track record
A large firm assigns your project to whoever is free. Here you work with the engineer whose name is on the door.
23+
Years in business
Founded in 2003 and still run by the engineer who signs the drawings.
6
States licensed
PE licensure in NY, NJ, CT, MA, AZ and WA, with more available where a project needs it.
100%
Design success rate
The success rate DCE has recorded on the designs it has produced since 2003.
250k+
Sq. ft. investigated
Indoor air quality work across federal facilities, plus 220,000 sq. ft. of industrial hygiene review.
06 / In their words
What clients and counsel have told us
Quotes DCE has published. The attorneys asked that their names stay out of it, which we respect.
Thank you for explaining the engineering principles. My understanding of the root cause and best practices led to a great settlement for my client.
I just wanted to let you know that the above referenced matter has settled. Thank you for the work that you did which was instrumental in getting the case settled for a good number. I look forward to working with you in the future.
The best system in all of his restaurants.
Call (203) 300-2408 to discuss your project
You will reach a licensed Professional Engineer, not a call queue. Send drawings, a scope or a rough description of the building and we will tell you what it takes.
